4. Alfred Hitchcock

Number of 100% Rated Movies: 9 Of all the legendary directors featured on this list, few are better known across generations of filmmakers than Alfred Hitchcock. The "master of suspense" has earned near-universal recognition from Psycho alone, while those unfamiliar with his films will be more than aware of the techniques he perfected, not least the twist ending. It's hard to imagine Hitchcock directing a duff film, and aside from 1931's The Skin Game (rated 17% on RT) his filmography more classics than you can count on both hands. While it's not surprising that Psycho falls short of 100% - a few critics at the time were predictably repulsed by the dark themes in his groundbreaking horror thriller - it's good to see the critical consensus getting it right most of the time.
