3. Skynet - Terminator Salvation
The Legend: No less than the extinction of humanity, judgment day. It doesnt get much bigger than that when it comes to villainy. We heard about what Skynet was fated to do, saw how impossible it was to stop something we were so reliant on, and witnessed the mayhem just a few of its terminators caused. Terminator Salvation took place entirely in Skynets future and with that setting, we had the implicit promise to see just how complete and thorough its grasp over humanity was.
The Failure: Apparently not so complete that you couldnt fool Skynets super sentient robots with a rope tied across two telephone poles. Skynet was considered to be so unbeatable that humanitys only hope was to send people and machines into the past to stop it before it was born. Yet in Terminator Salvation, John Connor infiltrates their main headquarters simply by sneaking around and ducking every time a light is shined in his direction. I guess a hyperintelligent, world dominating, super computer network has the same draw backs of a 1980s rotating camera that cant see around a corner.
