10 Lesser Known Comics That NEED To Be Movies
4. Invincible
Invincible is Image comics' semi-parody of the superhero genre. The comic is not for the faint of heart as it features some of the most violent and gruesome pages ever seen in the industry.
Mark Grayson is Invincible, and processes the powers of super-strength, speed, flight, some invulnerability, and fast healing - all of which increases with use.
Mark is the son of Onmi-Man also known as Nolan Grayson. Nolan is an established hero and writer, who has the same powers and acts as the Superman archetype in this universe. Both characters are members of Viltrumite race, a humanoid species of extraterrestrial origin.
Mark meets fellow teen superheroes and joins the Teen Team. Events take a turn when the Guardians of the Globe - this comics' parody version of the Justice League - are all killed by Onmi-Man. This sets off a war between humans and the Viltrumites as the latter attempt to take over the world, leaving Mark caught between his family and friends.
The comic is one of Image's most popular, but despite this a movie is yet to be released, despite an announcement in 2017 that Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg were on board to work on the project with Universal Studios. The duo would write, direct and co-produce a film adaptation of the comic, with comic creator Robert Kirkman of Walking Dead fame on board to produce.
Amazon announced an adult animated adaptation in 2018 due soon. The cast includes Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Mark Hamill, Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, Zazie Beetz, and Seth Rogan, to name a few.
Here's hoping this series is a success, and spurs Universal to move forward with the movie.
