3. Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. has been playing a lot of good guys in films lately -
Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - such that it's really difficult to remember when he's played a villain. Though he frequently has played characters with questionable motives and morality -
Zodiac, Natural Born Killers - one can't help but think his oft-grungy look and sly charm would translate well into one of true psychopathy. Downey, who is known for being amusingly smug and arrogant when doing the press circuit, could channel that arrogance into an
American Psycho-like role, for while he evidently looks great in a suit as Tony Stark, he can also look messy when the time calls for it. Perhaps the best sign that Downey could play this sort of role is his brilliant turn as TV presenter Wayne Gale in Natural Born Killers; completely demented - if occurring during Downey's strung-out drug phase - it is a place he should return to one day, if he can do it without the need for chemical influence, of course.
