7. "(I'm Going To Try) Dating Myself."- Parks and Recreation
While we're on the subject of Halloween TV, in the season 5 episode "Halloween Surprise" of Parks and Recreation, Ann Perkins, played by the lovely Rashida Jones, is told by Chris Traeger, played by the equally lovely Rob Lowe, to try "dating herself" instead of getting romantically entangled with any more men, but this little exchange was deleted from the version that aired. But then, in the following episode, "Ben's Parents," Perkins references the deleted scene by saying she can't date Traeger because she is "dating herself." Fans of the show didn't have to wait for the DVD release of season 5 to see the missing scene, as the show's official website included deleted material a week after the initial broadcast, and an extended "Producer's Cut" was placed on Hulu and NBC's website. While Perkins does explain what the "dating herself" line means in the show, it still seems to come out of leftfield. Granted, most of what Perkins says comes out of leftfield, but at least now we have the real reason behind this moment of quirkiness.
