10 Lines That Made No Sense Because Of A Deleted Scene

4. "You Could Smell Crazy On Him" - The Avengers

Avengers

Speaking of superhero movies, this unstoppable juggernaut of a blockbuster still had a slight continuity problem. Talking to the rest of the Avengers, Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner says, "You could smell crazy on (Loki)," referrign of course to the Big Bad played by the exceptional Tom Hiddleston who the taskforce are trying to stop. This was supposed to set up their final confrontation in midtown Manhattan during the movie's overblown climax, where Loki would make duplicates of himself (as he did earlier in the movie), but the Hulk found the real one with his scent. Loki making clones of himself was removed from this scene, and instead, the Hulk just pummels seven shades out of him. Fortunately, the offending line earlier in the movie still somewhat works, even though it's clearly out of context. Having that context explained might've been sweet though, a sort of "A-ha!" moment for the audience as we realized that's what Banner was talking about. Personally, however, I prefer the violent, "Hulk-smash!" version of their fight in the finished film, especially the "Puny god!" pay off.
