10 Major Issues Surrounding The Justice League Movie

8. Has This Really Been The Plan All Along?

One of the main criticisms levelled at the announcement of first Batman vs Superman and then Justice League is that the whole strategy seems rushed together, in an attempt to capitalize on the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Whereas it took Marvel four years, five movies and plenty of Easter Egg references and credit stings to build towards The Avengers, Man of Steel was a seemingly standalone Superman movie that has snowballed into the catalyst for DC's Cinematic Universe. It is well known that DC and Warner Bros. have been craving a Justice League movie for years now, but it has never been able to come together. Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy took place in its own universe, Superman had to be rebooted for the second time in less than a decade after Superman Returns under-performed, while Green Lantern flat-out flopped. It seems that as soon as the pieces fell into place, DC have taken the ball and ran as fast as they could with it. The end of The Dark Knight trilogy presented the opportunity to introduce a new cinematic iteration of Batman, and perhaps the mixed reaction to Man of Steel led to the announcement that DC's two icons would appear in the same movie, a mere four years after the conclusion of Nolan's multi-billion dollar, critically praised series. Everybody knew that DC would eventually build towards a Justice League movie, but the announcement that it would immediately follow Batman vs Superman came right out of the blue, and smacks of DC and Warner Bros. throwing all of their eggs into one basket.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
