10 Major Movie Characters Given Nothing To Do In The Sequel

9. Buzz Lightyear - Toy Story 4

Though Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) started to feel like a side character in Toy Story 3, it wasn't until Toy Story 4 that he well and truly took a formal backseat.

With the story being centered quite blatantly around Woody (Tom Hanks) and Bo Peep (Annie Potts), Buzz was basically shoehorned into the film's B-plot as he and the other toys attempted to track Woody down.

In addition to the size of Buzz's role being reduced, many fans also complained that he'd been "Flanderised" - that is, dumbed down into a caricature of himself.

It's probably healthiest for fans to think of Toy Story 3 as the series' "true" ending and accept the fourth film as a mere epilogue for Woody and Bo, but that's tough to do when the movie is literally called Toy Story 4.

Plus, with Toy Story 5 being recently confirmed by Disney, is there really any more dramatic runway for characters who feel like they've reached their natural ending?
