10 Major Movie Characters Given Nothing To Do In The Sequel
6. Laurie Strode - Halloween Ends
Halloween Kills ended with the death of Laurie Strode's (Jamie Lee Curtis) daughter Karen (Judy Greer) at the hands of Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney), suggesting that the sequel, Halloween Ends, would be a revenge film centered around Laurie and Michael's final clash.
Oh boy, it was ultimately anything but.
Filmmaker David Gordon Green decided to totally subvert expectations for his "ending" to the Laurie/Michael saga, shunting both Laurie and Michael into the periphery to focus the story instead on a new protagonist, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), who ends up crossing paths with Michael.
As a result, Laurie appears in the film for only around 20-or-so minutes, with most of this screen time leaving her on the fringes of the narrative while Corey's descent to the dark side takes precedent.
Save for a rushed climactic scuffle with Michael, in which Laurie finally kills him for good, she ends up feeling like a passenger in her own finale.
Green clearly tried to do something clever and fresh here, but given the vitriolic response from most fans it resolutely didn't work.
