9. David O Russell Vs Amy Adams, American Hustle (2013)
The latest round of leaked Sony emails are fairly damning to the allegedly ‘reformed’ David O Russell, a man whom the famously unflappable George Clooney even punched on the set of Three Kings. It seems old habits die hard.
On set, Adams was so abused by Russell she was reduced to tears on multiple occasions and even Christian Bale, no stranger to on-set feuding himself, had to step in and intervene, telling the director to stop ‘acting like such an a**hole.’ Adams has suggested that Russell was far kinder to Jennifer Lawrence, or at least that Lawrence was like ‘like Teflon’ and can take the insults far better that she can, but either way, things seem to have gotten pretty bad.
Russell has a long litany of complaints against him (allegedly ’feeling up’ his transgender niece’s breasts) but continues to make highly successful films and revels in his bad boy director image.
