10 Major Reveals From The Star Wars: The Force Awakens Novelisation

1. The Secrets Of Starkiller Base

Since the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, some have claimed that the way the Starkiller Base works doesn't make sense. There's arguments to be made both for and against that reasoning, but the novelisation surprisingly reveals a totally different way for this weapon of The First Order to be used. Instead of shooting a single beam across the Galaxy, which somehow scattered and destroyed multiple targets, the book explains that a ball of energy is shot through sub hyperspace, disappearing outside of the base and then appearing near the intended target. When it does so, the target planet's core is supercharged and then explodes, destroying the rest of the moons or planets within its reach due to what a massive explosion this creates. That still doesn't make much scientific sense, and would have looked a hell of a lot less interesting than what we ended up seeing on the big screen. The novelisation also has its Starkiller Base utilise the dark matter rather than a sun to charge up, something else which would have robbed the movie of some key moments. However, this definitely points to the weapon going through a few different iterations, and it will be interesting to see if future instalments of the franchise borrow any of these ideas... Which of these revelations do you value the most? Which should have made it into the film? Share your reactions below in the comments thread.
