9. The Aviator
The Aviator shows just how skilled Scorsese is when it comes to how he depicts the worlds that his characters occupy. Every little detail surrounding the life of Howard Hughes is presented in a realistic fashion never resorting to just reveling in nostalgia as most biopics tend to do. Scorsese succeeds in presenting a portrait of one of his heroes that doesn't glamorize anything or add anything unnecessary. The best thing about The Aviator is that Hughes is presented as a real human being and not just another overly idealized legend. Presenting his characters in this fashion has always been a strong point in Scorsese's career and he really succeeds with The Aviator.
