10 Marvel Cinematic Universe Characters Who Are AWOL

It's no fun being an Marvel Cinematic Universe love interest as most of them end up going the way of Betty Ross. Maybe they should form some sort of support group.

Jane Foster is another character who has been jilted by Marvel, although a fleeting reference to her in Ragnarok suggests she's the one who actually did the jilting, in story terms, at least.

Nevertheless, she can still be classed as AWOL since nobody knows what she's up to in current MCU continuity. A mind like hers would surely be useful to the Avengers when Thanos arrives on the scene, but it seems there are no plans to bring her back.

Natalie Portman is probably okay with this since reports suggest she's had beef with Marvel in the past. When Patty Jenkins was forced out of Thor: The Dark World's director's chair, the Wall Street Journal claimed she almost quit the series in protest.

After Ragnarok quashed her relationship with Thor, it doesn't look like Jane will be back in the MCU anytime soon, which is a shame since she would have made an excellent female god of thunder, something Marvel introduced in the comics with great success.
