10 Marvel Franchises That Could Replace The Avengers

4. Alpha Flight

Alpha Flight have undergone plenty of different incarnations over the years, starting out first as a Canadian Avengers of sorts before later becoming Earth's first line of defence against extraterrestrial threats earlier this decade.

Either team would work in this instance, though it's not difficult to see the appeal of the newest incarnation - the one led by Carol Danvers - getting some traction in the Marvel writers room. Its Men in Black-style premise is certain to appeal to audiences, and though again, most of the team's roster are yet to feature in the MCU, they're not exactly difficult to introduce.

Murkier still, however, is the question of the group's onscreen rights. Although introduced first in an X-Men comic explaining Wolverine's Canadian origins, Alpha Flight, as they were, drifted further and further apart from Marvel's mutants, despite the fact that some of their members were mutant in origin.

Not that it matters now of course, with Fox set to join Disney, but still - Captain Marvel and the Alpha Flight has a good ring to it, doesn't it?
