10 MCU Characters Killed Off Way Too Early

Brock Rumlow, aka Crossbones, is one of Captain America's fiercest enemies. The MCU's version, played by Frank Grillo, first appears in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, seemingly an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. until he is revealed to be an undercover member of Hydra.

In the film's climactic finale, Rumlow is buried underneath a collapsing building, leaving his entire body scarred and malformed. He is not seen again until Captain America: Civil War, in which his focus has shifted from loyalty to Hydra to all-out revenge on Steve Rogers.

When Rogers and the others wear him down, he detonates an explosive strapped to his body as a final act of murder-suicide. Rather than blowing up straight away, Scarlet Witch attempts to contain the blast, but accidentally sends him straight towards a nearby building, killing many innocent civilians and setting in motion the events of the film.

Crossbones's part in the MCU seems nicely played out, and, given that he was very unambiguously blown to bits, the writers will have a hard time bringing him back now. But still, the character played such an important role in the Civil War comic event - being the one to actually kill Captain America, no less - that it's something of a shame to say goodbye to him so quickly in the movies.
