10 MCU Characters Missing From Marvel's Phase 4 (And Why)

Another potential face of the MCU moving forward, Captain Marvel has proved to be something of a divisive character among a certain sect of fans (mostly due to her being a woman who doesn't smile anywhere near as much as they would like).

Kevin Feige has mentioned plans for Captain Marvel 2, and we know Marvel Studios is looking for a new director for the sequel. Despite that, Carol Danvers isn't expected to make her big screen return for at least a few years, hence why there's already talk of a Secret Invasion TV series (revolving around the Skrulls invading Earth) coming before then to set up this sequel.

It's unclear whether Brie Larson wants some time off or if Disney just wants to let the dust settle from backlash which even resulted in Rotten Tomatoes changing how fans submit their verdicts on movies. Either way, Captain Marvel is taking some time off from the MCU, and won't factor into any more stories for the time being, likely because she's once again in outer space.
