10 MCU End Scenes That Were Scrapped

1. Loki Flees To Jotunheim (Thor: Ragnarok)

Loki's death at the start of Avengers: Infinity War made it crystal clear that Thanos was not to be messed with. The dude broke his neck like he was playing with a ragdoll, letting everybody know that he was going to be the Avengers' biggest challenge yet.

It's a brilliant scene, and it's hard to imagine it playing out in any other way, but at one point in time, it almost did play out in a different way, all because of an alternate draft of Thor: Ragnarok's ending.

In the final ending, Loki and Thor escape the destruction of Asgard and set their ship on a course for Earth, but in the alternate ending - which is mentioned in the Avengers: Endgame official artbook - Loki ditches Thor and heads to Jotunheim with the Tesseract, fleeing in a desperate attempt to hide himself from Thanos.

This would've led to a different death scene for Loki in Infinity War - for example, in this version, he and Thanos are alone in the frosty caves of Jotunheim - but either way, the outcome stays the same: the God of Mischief falls at the Mad Titan's hands.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
