10 Mind-Blowing Film Rumours That Turned Out To Be Fake

7. Shirley Eaton Died While Filming Goldfinger

One of the most iconic scenes in cinema, Shirley Eaton's death by golden paint in Goldfinger is both tragic and mesmerizing, if a little unscientific. Supposedly her character's demise was caused by her skin being unable to breathe. Although many people in the 1960s believed that humans needed to respire partially through their skin, that doesn't make it anywhere close to the truth. What's also far from the truth is that Shirley Eaton herself was killed in the exact same manner as her character on the set of the Bond movie, something you'd think the crew would consider before daubing her in deadly golden paint. Of course it's patently untrue - Eaton is still alive and well - but rumours persisted in the age before celebrities could just tweet to let the world know they're not dead, even though the only way she could have passed away under those circumstances was if she'd started to sweat profusely on the inside. Ugh.
