10 Mind-Blowing Movie Details You Totally Missed

9. A Familiar Face - Solo: A Star Wars Story

Spider Man
Paramount Pictures

The Disney era of Star Wars’ second spin-off was a fine, if unremarkable film that somewhat worked despite its myriad of behind-the-scenes issues. Solo did its part to flesh out the Star Wars universe and Alden Ehrenheich’s performance as a younger Han was appropriately different from Harrison Ford’s iconic take on the lovable smuggler.

As is expected in any Star Wars film, Solo is filled to the brim with a variety of references and details to past Star Wars lore and various other films/media. One of its more intriguing details harkens back to a well-known MacGuffin that marked the beginning of Harrison Ford's other iconic cinematic hero.

Han and Chewbacca (Joonas Suotomo)'s misadventures ultimately take them to crime lord Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany)'s yacht where they wish to explain away an earlier failed mission. Inside the yacht, it is revealed that Vos has a collection of artefacts, and one of them resembles the golden fertility idol from Raiders' opening sequence. According to director Ron Howard, it was not his plan to include the idol but chose to do so as a homage to writer Lawrence Kasdan, who also wrote the 80s classic.

Apparently, the idol's inclusion was the latest in a long line of Star Wars and the Indiana Jones franchises referencing each other in their respective films. In addition to this, the scene features a myriad of Indy-related artefacts but none are displayed as prominently as the idol is in the shot.
