Alright, not everyone can have the career path of, say, Ryan Gosling, who after starring in an episode of Goosebumps as a kid, became known to millions for his work in The Notebook, and has spent a good few years working as one of the hottest young actors in Hollywood, with seemingly no indication that this is going to change. Sometimes people start off well like Gosling, and somewhere along the way, they just lose it, either because they're lured in by money over artistry, or they develop an overpowering ego that earns them an unsavoury reputation, or they decide that they prefer boozing to acting. Sometimes people just don't have any taste or their agent picks a bad role; other times they're forced to take any role that comes along just to keep financially afloat. 10. Katherine Heigl Insulting Everyone Talented She Works With
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpp930f_fhU Katherine Heigl might've been known to many for her work on the TV show Grey's Anatomy, but as a straight male with no interest in mawkish, poorly written hospital serials (meow!), it wasn't until she showed up in Judd Apatow's uproarious comedy Knocked Up that I began to take notice. Boasting a sure charismatic appeal and being, well, freaking
gorgeous, the film made her a star, though it wasn't long before she began to basically sabotage her own career by way of her own oversized mouth. Heigl noted that the film "paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys. It exaggerated the characters, and I had a hard time with it...Why is this how you're portraying women?" While this in itself might be a fair complaint - Seth Rogen's character
is much more likeable - Heigl hasn't exactly gone about acting on what she preached. Just look at her filmography;
every single film since has seen Heigl playing a stereotypically batty, ditzy, annoying, moany or incompetent "shrew" as she puts it, while her work on Knocked Up was easily the most nuanced and gender-balanced of her career to date. Sure, she could come back from this nadir, but she's become so unlikeable as a result that hopefully her star will just quietly fade from now on.
