10 Modern Movies Sure To Become Cult Classics

1. Inside Llewyn Davis

The movie: Greenwich Village in the early 1960s, the burgeoning folk scene begins to make its impression on American culture - the eponymous Llewyn Davis is one such aspiring performer struggling to reconcile his somewhat misanthropic outlook on life with the necessary compromises required to become commercially successful. Elliptical and meandering, Inside Llewyn Davis sees the Coen brothers at their most elusive and entrancing. What makes it a potential cult classic: As with The Big Lebowski - another Coen classic which was moderately received at the time of its release but which went on to win a strong cult following - Inside Llewyn Davis is a film in which emphasis on plot plays second (folk) fiddle to the mundanity of a listless life of half-realised truths and the laughs come from delicately expressed moments of universal character traits rather than open gags. The soundtrack alone would be enough to ensure a long-lasting legacy, but the Coens' knack for the offbeat and quirky elevates the film into a minor masterpiece destined to be remembered for decades. Agree or disagree with the choices on this list? Which modern movies do you think are destined to become cult classics? Why not let us know in the comments below?
