We know little about this killer, not even his name. However, he immediately stands out for a number of reasons. Firstly, he's a pure-bred sociopath. He has no complex backstory. We learn nothing about him that justifies why he commits evil deeds. Based on the way he speaks, the only reason he kills is because he enjoys it.

Secondly, he has a unique choice of weaponry - a crossbow. At first, you might wonder why The Man doesn't use something more conventional like a knife or a gun.

But throughout Hush, it becomes clear how effective his weapon is. Not only can he attack Maddie from afar, The Man doesn't have to worry when she snatches the bow off of him, since she has no idea how to reload it.

However, The Man's defining attribute is his mask. The features of his facial covering are so subtle, it's difficult to describe. Nevertheless, you can't help feeling uneasy while gazing at the mask's subtle grin.
