In a similar way to how Rise of the Silver Surfer altered and subsequently ruined Galactus, X-Men: Origins took the incredibly popular Wade Wilson and chopped and changed him to the point that he was no longer recognisable. The movie isn't exactly looked back on fondly, but this was without question one of the worst aspects.

Fox managed to snag the perfect casting for Deadpool, as Ryan Reynolds would retroactively prove seven years later, yet they chose to change everything that made the character great for his first live action appearance.

The initial scene where Wade gets to show off his impressive skills was actually quite fun, but from there he had his mouth sewn shut, was given powers that Deadpool has absolutely no right having, and was left without his classic red costume.

It's like putting Wolverine in a movie but instead of having retractable claws, he can shoot laser beams out of his eyes. Again, this was an insult, and the character that should have been Deadpool was ultimately portrayed as nothing more than a poor excuse for a villain. How can you have the Merc with the Mouth without a mouth?
