10 Moments Of Bad Movie Science That Made Us Cringe

8. The Fastball (Rookie of the Year)

Rookie In the 1993 baseball fantasy film Rookie of the Year, the young little leaguer Henry breaks his throwing arm during a game. After spending weeks in a cast, Henry comes off of the disabled list to become a star pitcher. When he is in the bleachers at a Cubs game, he throws back a home run ball which launches across the baseball diamond. Henry then finds himself signing with the Chicago Cubs, the second coming of Nolan Ryan. Of course, it is impossible for Henry to have become an all-star athletes athlete in this way. Although there is an entity known as adhesive capsulitis, it does not result in 100 mile an hour fastballs. Instead, it results in a stiff arm and pain. All that being said, this movie is more realistic than the other '90's baseball film Angels in the Outfield. While it seems unlikely that angels would assist in a baseball game, what is even more unlikely is that they would help the California Angels, a team predominantly composed of Satanists.
