10 Moments That Literally Stopped Horror Movies

9. Fear Street 1666 - The Time Jump

The Fear Street trilogy came to us pretty recently and earned itself an overall good reputation. Spanning over three time periods and three separate parts, it tells the story of the seemingly cursed town of Shadyside.

The final instalment is Fear Street 1666, taking us back to Shadyside’s origins and the dark secrets in one 1600s colony.

Unfortunately, they decided to have the actors put on bad British accents to really hammer home the colonial time-frame, but thankfully we didn’t have to endure them for too long!

The previous two films were mostly dedicated to their allotted time periods, so when Fear Street 1666 abruptly reached the end of their colonial plot and zoomed us forward to modern times it was a bit of a shock.

We as the audience have a sharp intake of breath and a moment of sad realisation when Sarah Fier, the witch we have feared thus far, is hanged. From there all frenzied forward movement of the plot came to a grinding halt - punctuated by the sudden transition forward to 1994.

It was a little disappointing to not get more of the 1666 environment, and it felt a bit jarring when one part of the story came to an end, and we were immediately thrown back into another.

Overall though, it was a stopping transition point that worked for the plot, so we can’t hate it too much.
