4. Kong: Skull Island
Due for release on March 10, Kong: Skull Island looks like the King Kong movie you’ve always wanted to see, with the original story tweaked just enough to pique your curiosity.
Set during the 1970s, when Vietnam and Watergate were tearing America apart, the film focuses on a ragtag crew (including Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson) who, courtesy of satellite imagery, discover a mysterious island and launch an expedition before realizing they’ve set foot on the King’s territory.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings Of Summer), Kong: Skull Island is part of a shared cinematic universe that will also include Godzilla Vs Kong and Godzilla 2. Which begs the question: will Kong be the same benevolent defender that Godzilla was in Gareth Edwards’ 2014 film?
