Directors appearing in their own movies is a time-honoured tradition and the MCU is no exception. In every Marvel entry that is directed by the Russo Brothers, Joe Russo plays a bit-part. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the Ohio-born filmmaker portrays Dr Fine; the surgeon who checks on Black Widow's wounds in Nick Fury's hideout.

In Captain America: Civil War, Russo plays Theo Broussard; the doctor who tasked with performing the psychiatric evaluation on Bucky. Because Zemo kills Broussard and assumes his identity to break Bucky out of his cell, this is the only time Russo played a character that directly affects the plot. Although he shot a scene in Avengers: Infinity War where he plays a paparazzi hassling Happy Hogan, it didn't make the final cut. Last time we saw Russo in the MCU, he was playing a grieving man in the support group scene in Avengers: Endgame.

Although it's well documented that the Russo Brothers worked on the Captain America and Avengers sequels, a lot of people didn't notice Joe Russo's appearance, mainly because he is credited under the bizarre pseudonym, Gozie Agbo.
