10 More Completed Movies You Will Never See
4. My Brother, Borat
Even though the 2006 mockumentary, Borat, was a towering success, it took 14 years before it received a sequel. But if Kazakh director, Erik Rakishev, had his way, we would've gotten a (kind of) follow-up much sooner.
Furious how Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy portrayed Kazakhstan, the patriotic Kazakh hoped to set the record straight with an unauthorised sequel. My Brother, Borat follows a journalist who's inspired to visit Kazakhstan after watching Borat. While there, he meet's Borat Sagidyev's sibling, Durat, and discovers Kazakhstan is a modern and thriving nation.
Despite Rakishev's good intentions, he included scenes that may not have depicted his country in the best light, including a sequence where Durat fornicates with a donkey. (Even Cohen would probably think that's going too far.)
It goes without saying why My Brother, Borat never came to fruition. Since the project blatantly infringes on Cohen's creation, the film couldn't be released without guaranteeing a lawsuit.
Rakishev said he wouldn't mind going to court since it would help promote his work. Despite the director's defiant words, there's no indication My Brother, Borat will ever be seen.
