10 More Excuses Actors Used For Blowing Major Movie Auditions
5. Eddie Redmayne's Ridiculous Scary Voices Ruin His Chances Of Being In Star Wars
On a number of occasions over the years, Eddie Redmayne took some pretty big chances in his attempts to make himself stand out from the rest of the pack when auditioning for a rather massive role.
There was that time the future Oscar-winner decided to channel his inner Ian Holm on camera during a meeting for the role of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit trilogy, for example, a move that swiftly led to the casting director begging him to use his own voice instead.
Then, when he found himself in the middle of an audition for the role of Kylo Ren in the incoming Star Wars -Episode VII: The Force Awakens flick, Redmayne told the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Uproxx) that he once again opted to dramatically alter his voice for the part.
And instead of blowing away those in the room with his sinister-sounding performance, this British sensation's many different embarrassing Darth Vader "koohh paaaah" voices eventually resulted in casting director Nina Gold asking him "You got anything else?"
He did not. And it was in that moment that Redmayne likely realised his ill-advised decision to put on a baddie voice probably just cost him one of the biggest parts out there.
