10 More Film Secrets That Were Hiding In Plain Sight

4. Miles Bron's Upside Down Rothko - Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Friday film
Netflix

There's one very early indication in Glass Onion that the film's ultimate antagonist, Elon Musk-esque tech bro Miles Bron (Edward Norton), isn't so much a criminal mastermind as a superficial dumbass simply posing as one.

Look around his lush adobe and you can spot Mark Rothko's 1961 painting Number 207 hanging up - an immediately recognisable colour field painting comprised of red and dark blue blocks.

But more crucially, as will only be apparent to art aficionados, Bron has actually hung the painting upside down, with the block of red colour incorrectly appearing at the bottom rather than the top.

Even if this isn't a smoking gun which pegs Bron as the killer, it does nevertheless indicate that he has only a most passing, pretentious interest in fine art rather than a genuine knowledge of or enthusiasm for it.

And yet, if you don't know your Rothkos as a viewer, this sliver of character shading is incredibly easily missed.
