The 11th entry in the franchise, this year's lazily titled Children of the Corn is largely unremarkable bar a couple of solid performances from some of its young cast. In that regard, someone like Kate Moyer does such a great job as Eden Edwards - the leader of the film's murderous kids cult - that you are rooting for her downfall, yet it's the character of Calvin Colvington (Stephen Hunter) who gets the nod for this list.

Calvin is one of the adults of the small Nebraska town setting of this feature, with his youngest son being one of the Corn, and his eldest son being one of the few kids trying to put a halt to the carnage caused by these young 'uns. For Calvin, though, he's a total piece of work.

When we're first introduced to Calvin's eldest son Calder, it's immediately established that the teen has been beaten by his father. Likewise, there's shortly a scene where Stephen Hunter's character scolds his youngest boy in public and gives him an ominous "just wait until you get home" threat that's full of of murky intentions.

Adding further to this asshat's behaviour, he loudly mocks every child of the town when it comes to the possibility on them having a say on the area's future. As such, it's no surprise that he's one of the first adults killed in this picture, being hanged at the behest of Eden.
