10 MORE Horror Movie Moments Everyone Was Waiting For (That Never Happened)

1. Learning ANYTHING - Vivarium

Vivarium movie
Vertigo Releasing

Directed by Lorcan Finnegan, Vivarium follows a young couple, Tom and Gemma, who are taken to an empty suburban neighbourhood by an otherwordly estate agent. When Tom and Gemma attempt to leave, they find themselves inexplicably looping back to their house. The next day, a baby is dropped at the house, alongside a note reading, "Raise the child and be released."

So, not only is there a ton of mystery, every scene throws in another unanswered question. How does the neighbourhood keep its inhabitants in a permanent loop? What is the purpose of the neighbourhood? What are those weird symbols the child keeps looking at on the tv?

Anyone seeking answers will be compelled to keep watching, expecting a gobsmacking twist.

But it never happens. In fact, any aspect of the bewildering plot that's mildly explained creates more confusion.

To be fair, there are several hints of what's going on behind the scenes that should help viewers draw their own conclusions.

But at the same time, it feels lazy for the movie to explore so many intriguing ideas before figuratively shrugging its shoulders and expecting the audience to figure everything out themselves.
