10 More Horror Movie Sequels MASSIVELY Better Than The Original
9. Final Destination 2
The fatal cinematic embodiments of Rube Goldberg machines, the Final Destination films are known for their absurdly convoluted death scenes more than anything else. However, this did not stop the second entry in the five-film series - a sixth will make arrive in 2025 - from having greater aspirations, and as a result exceeded its predecessor in nearly every regard.
Although it is the least financially successful entry in the franchise, FD2 works better than its progenitor due to a slight but still notable embrace of camp elements. This is best reflected in the performances of the main cast and some of the kills, where the endearingly cheesy performances are balanced out by the played-straight portrayals from Ali Larter and the late, great Tony Todd.
The death sequences had been elevated as well, with the opening log truck pile-up being the franchise's standout setpiece, a viscerally elaborate segment that has terrified viewers who find themselves behind log trucks to this day.
Final Destination 3 is even better in the eyes of many fans, but the less said about the fourth feature the better.
