10 More Horror Movies That Had No Right To Be This Good
5. Piranha 3D
Was anyone really in the market for a remake of Joe Dante's 1978 comedy-horror film Piranha, and one in 3D no less?
And yet, Alexandre Aja's shamelessly schlock-happy effort is in fact a deliriously entertaining romp which certainly one-ups the nudity and violence of its predecessor.
Though most of the gory mayhem is saved for the movie's outrageous finale, this is a lot of fun from beginning to end, thanks to both its unrelentingly goofy tone and an evidently game cast - especially Jerry O'Connell, Kelly Brook, and Ving Rhames.
And if you saw the movie in 3D back in 2010, you'll surely recall just how much those in-your-face effects added to the knowingly campy experience.
Even viewed today in 2D, though, this is a considerably better-directed film than many could've possibly anticipated, delivering firmly on the bloody promises of its title.
The less said about 2012's lousy cash-in sequel, though - which, at least, has the hilariously inspired moniker Piranha 3DD - the better.
