Though the ensemble of Shaun of the Dead is far from perfect, they're extremely relatable. Sure, Shaun is a screw-up, but he's also loyal and protective towards his friends. Philip looks down on Shaun but reconciles with him before he dies. Ed's surprisingly likeable, despite the fact he's dumb enough to take a phone call while surrounded by zombies.

However, if there's one jackass in the pack, it's gotta be David. David is secretly in love with Shaun's (ex-?)girlfriend, which is why he undermines Shaun at every given opportunity. Rather than looking for solutions, David passively aggressively antagonises Shaun and tries to divide the group. 

When Shaun discovers his mother is infected with the zombie virus, David doesn't show an ounce of compassion, attempting to kill her before Shaun has a chance to say goodbye. Then, as David sees that the rest of the group are on Shaun's side, he decides to remove the barricade from the pub they're hiding out in... while it's surrounded by hundreds of flesh-graving ghouls. 

To the surprise of nobody, the undead burst through and devour David alive. Seriously, what did he think was going to happen?
