And sticking with those dedicated actors opting to learn a new skill in an effort to bring another dimension to a cinematic offering, the second John Krasinski laid eyes on the original script for his eventual box office horror smash A Quiet Place, the director/actor sensed that there was one element in particular he wanted to flesh out even more.

The presence of a deaf character within said initial screenplay led to Krasinski further exploring what the reality of only being able to communicate through American Sign Language due to a fear of being ripped to shreds by freakish monsters would genuinely consist of.

So, as the director would reveal to The Wrap, after bringing aboard the brilliant Millicent Simmonds, an actor who was very much deaf in real-life, the entire cast and crew were taught sign language for every single line of dialogue present in the script.

And Simmonds' contribution to the overall fright that was A Quiet Place didn't just end with her apparently being the one to teach her castmates how to successfully execute sign language either. The talented actor also acted as a trusted consultant of sorts for Krasinski throughout.

As Krasinski explained:

"...I found myself asking her all the time, ‘Is this right?’ And she would be like, ‘maybe do it more like this?”
