Even if a well-known thespian hasn't had the joy of sitting through a great many MCU adventures, news of them officially being brought into the Marvel Studios mix usually tends to provoke a star into diving into the sprawling universe for research purposes.

Christian Bale has never been one to head down the more traditional route, though, and upon being approached about the prospect of appearing in Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder tale as Gorr the God Butcher, the actor has confirmed he had next to no clue what the MCU even was.

Going further, Bale would also later reveal how he'd only ever seen Ragnarok and Infinity War or Endgame, with his hilarious description of the latter being "there was a big bloke looking for stones.'" And Bale was also unaware that he'd be required to dive into the world of prosthetics for the shoot, later admitting "I actually arrived thinking that we were doing CGI and that I would have to stick on a few dots."

Whatever way you slice it, though, Bale's apparent lack of awareness of his MCU surroundings or what would actually go into physically creating his Gorr had little impact on his eventual show-stealing turn.
