The Autopsy Of Jane Doe 2016
Universal Pictures

Now, Dead Silence isn't going to be the best horror movie you ever watch. But it isn't going to be the worst either, and the creepy puppet show that plays out is one that's unarguably wonderfully put together.

Helmed by no other than James Wan at his spooky finest, and written by his co-creator of the Saw franchise Leigh Whannell, it's always surprising to think that their next hollywood effort after the torture porn series never really got recognised.

When Jamie's wife is killed after receiving a mysterious ventriloquist dummy, he vows to get to the bottom of what's really going on: returning to his hometown and uncovering an ancient tongue-eating evil in the process. It's good, campy fun, and never pretends to be anything it's not in the process. We've had Annabelle and we've had Chucky; it's only fair that Billy the dummy gets his long overdue time in the spotlight.
