10 More Upcoming Movie Performances Doomed To Fail
1. Jason Momoa As Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison - Minecraft
It's not hard to see why the Aquaman, Dune, and Fast X star was one of the first names brought in to play a part in Warner Bros' long-awaited Minecraft movie - a film based on the beloved video game that will be released into cinemas on April 4, 2025.
Pairing the charismatic Jason Momoa with the likes of Jack Black for a wonderfully bizarre picture directed by Napoleon Dynamite's Jared Hess seemed like a somewhat compelling combination, too. But that was before the first trailer and looks at this spring 2025 release dropped.
Oh, boy.
Chucked into a horrific green-screen hellscape and an entirely bizarre, garish costume and cheap wig, Momoa's mugging Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison already looks like a shoe-in for a Razzie nomination.
He's seemingly not being helped by the awful material (see at 4:50 in video below) or lazily crafted CG environments and creatures he's surrounded by. But Momoa really does look like he's just powering through for a paycheque here as the world championship video gamer from the '80s, one described as a Minecraft "noob" by Hess (via Comicbook.com).
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, of course - if someone wants to pay you millions of dollars to pull faces at animated sheep, you'd be silly not to take that money, right?
Regardless of its quality, Minecraft will still inevitably make millions, if not billions at the box office, but it still doesn't look like Momoa, or any live-action performer in this thing, has been able to build an interesting performance for this latest big-screen video game adaptation.
