10 Most Annoying Little Inconsistencies In MCU History

7. The Stephen Strange Namedrop

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is arguably the strongest outing in the MCU’s Phase Two. While doing many other great things, it introduced Bucky as the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson as Falcon, and made the first mention of Stephen Strange.

This came two years before Doctor Strange ever actually made an appearance on screen himself. As Jasper Sitwell ran through Project Insight with Steve Rogers, he name-dropped several potential threats to HYDRA that would be eliminated, namely Cap himself, Bruce Banner, and Stephen Strange.

He did reel off several other hypotheticals like a TV anchor in Cairo, insinuating that it could be anybody, but Banner and Strange he called by name. Yet, at this point in time, Doctor Strange was just that, a doctor. He was famous, certainly, but why on Earth would he ever be considered a threat on the same level as Bruce Banner?

Strange didn’t even know of the existence of the mystic arts yet, and while he may well have been a potential threat, just like a TV anchor in Cairo, why was he one of the first names Sitwell came up with next to Bruce Banner? Surely a Tony Stark, a Hank Pym, or an Erik Selvig would have made more sense.
