10 Most Annoying Phrases In The Movie Business

What it really means: 'We desperately crave that kind of Marvel money'.

Ever since Marvel revolutionized the industry with its 'shared universe' concept, studios have been rushing to catch up. The problem is that they are paying too much attention to the concept as opposed to how it was achieved, by building up years of audience goodwill.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword was initially announced as the first of a potential six-film interconnected series. Did anyone care? Clearly not. Universal's Dark Universe cast A-list stars and announced its future projects before The Mummy had even hit theaters with disappointing results. Man of Steel hardly seemed like the launchpad for the DCEU at the time and even the Transformers franchise is rapidly expanding.

There's no point telling an audience what's coming next if they don't care about what's happening at the time, and the current determination to focus on the bigger picture as opposed to the movie at hand has resulted in a number of disappointing big-budget movies in recent years.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
