10 Most Badass James Bond Villain Lairs

5. Silva's Island (Skyfall, 2012)

Most James Bond villains built their lairs in hidden, well-guarded locations using their hard-earned, ill-gained millions over many years. Raoul Silva, however, saw a place he fancied and simply took it. How does one steal a private island, one might ask? When you’re a hacker extraordinaire like Silva, anything’s possible.

Yes, a tech wiz with his trusty keyboard can steal more than a thousand men with golden guns, which Silva proves by using his technological prowess to convince an island residence to promptly evacuate in fear of an imminent chemical leak.

After claiming the quickly deserted island as his base of operations, Silva finally has more than adequate room to store his vast collection of overly bulky electronic equipment, which must have been a nightmare to hold otherwise.

With rows upon rows of abandoned buildings far away from the hustle and bustle of urban life, Silva’s island carries the deathly silence of a ghost town. It’s a fitting place for him to hatch his shadowy, behind-the-scenes schemes of stock manipulations, election riggings and, of course, cyber terrorism.

And even if we initially sneer at the island’s relative lack of defences, leading to Silva’s easy capture… it’s all part of his grand plan.
