10 Most Controversial Comedies Of All Time

9. Freddy Got Fingered

Controversial Comedies
20th Century Fox

As many of you may have blissfully forgotten, there was once a time when Tom Green was the preeminent shock comedian. He had a talk show on MTV, was getting cast in gross-out mainstream comedies like Road Trip, and was this close to completely taking over Hollywood.

And then Freddy Got Fingered happen, which thankfully spared us from having to deal with Green's antics on a more massive scale. Unlike most of the other films on this list, Freddy wasn't controversial for any one specific reason. Instead, mass audiences were offended by the product for dozens of reasons.

He jerks off a horse. He bites through a baby's umbilical cord. He wears a deer carcass as a hoodie. He sucks a cow's utter. He uses an elephant's penis as a firehose, spraying his father with so much ejaculate that he ends up looking like a Papier-mâché project gone horribly awry. He canes a paraplegic.

It's not subtle, and it was practically begging audiences to be offended. So it couldn't have been much of a shock to Green when people stayed away from the theater in droves. Even less shocking, parental groups weren't thrilled with this kind of grossness targeting their kids, which it absolutely did.

At the time of its release, Freddy Got Fingered was widely recognised as one of the worst, most needlessly offensive movies of all time. And it almost killed Tom Green's career instantaneously.
