10 Most Controversial Movie Castings of All Time

1. Daniel Craig - Casino Royale

Still, these above castings are nothing on the media furore that exploded when Daniel Craig was cast as James Bond, with the worldwide media dubbing him "James Blonde", owing to the colour of his hair as compared to all previous Bonds. Daniel Craig, who had previously impressed in Matthew Vaughn's Layer Cake, had to endure a tidal wave of scrutiny, with fans and the media doubting that he had the acting chops or the "look" - given his short stature, also - to adequately play the suave, sophisticated spy that had become immensely popular the world over. However, Craig managed to overcome his detractors, delivering what is arguably one of the best - if not the best - performances in the entire lineage of Bond, being frequently likened to series favourite Sean Connery, and with his recent work on Skyfall, cementing himself as a visceral, sexy, smouldering screen presence as the character requires. One hopes Craig had a good laugh at all those who doubted his credibility, because this is, like Ledger's turn as The Joker, a supreme example of an actor being able to stick two fingers up at his critics. Well done, Mr. Bond. What other casting choices did you find shocking? Let us know in the comments below.
