10 Most Criminally Underrated British Horror Movies

9. The Borderlands

Eden Lake

England's answer to The Blair Witch Project, The Borderlands is a found footage movie that sees three religious men sent to investigate paranormal occurrences in a recently renovated church. Situated in the Devon countryside, the locals seem creepy enough - but when inanimate objects are caught moving on camera, and the residing priest throws himself off the roof, it seems there's something more at play than simple superstition.

The Borderlands gets pretty weird pretty fast, ending on a literal descent into madness that will have you both scratching your head and holding in your lunch. As a found footage movie, it's had a hard rap for no reason other than being a proponent of good old shaky cam, but it's packed with atmosphere and that specific brooding little-village vibe that comes from solid British filmmaking.

The eerie underlying narrative is more than enough to devote some time and motion sickness pills to.
