8. Za Warudo - Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Another one chalked up to the meme board. Za Warudo Wryyy was once one of the most popular memes on the internet, but now it lays by the wayside. Jojo's bizarre adventure was an 80s manga which followed the descendants of a British family from Victorian England all the way to the "present" day. The series was adapted into a number of longer OVAs in the early 90s and, more recently, into the anime series which followed the first two story arcs. Za Warudo, translated means "the world", is a technique used by one of the most badass characters from anime history. Dio Brando. Dio is one of the main antagonists of the series. The adoptive brother of the original protagonist was an evil and manipulative orphan who came into the family with the hopes of stealing their wealth from them. Dio worked his way into his adoptive fathers heart while shunning and forcing out his adoptive brother, Jonathan Joestar. When his plan was discovered he was cornered and forced to don an ancient stone mask, granting him strange vampiric powers. After his initial defeat Dio returned to terrorize Jonathan great-grandson, Jotaru Kujo. The name Za Warudo refers to the name of Dios 'stand', manifested into a phantom of sorts. When it's name is called Dio is able to stop time, momentarily, and move about freely in the affected zone. This is one of the most deadly and devastating techniques for an anime as it gives Dio the ability to almost do anything. With time frozen he is able to interact with the environment and set up some destructive finishing moves. In his battle with Jotaru he used Za Warudo to it's full effectiveness, nearly killing Jotaru on multiple occaisions. Luckily Jotaru was protected by his main character syndrome and plot armor.
