10 Most Disappointing Villains In Movie History
2. Venom - Spider-Man 3
In a movie packed to the brim with disappointments and ill-judged decisions, it is perhaps Venom who caused the most pain for Spider-Man fans the world over in Sam Raimi's third installment, given that somebody decided to cast Topher Grace, the actor from That '70s Show, in the role of an incredibly iconic and truly menacing bad guy.
Given Venom's status as one of Spider-Man's most famous enemies, there should have been so much more thought put into the casting process here - the fact that the director didn't even want the character to be in the movie in the first place speaks volumes about the way that Venom was shoe-horned into the narrative, given that there were already two other villains driving the story, and he didn't feel like there was enough time to explore them all. No kidding, Sam Raimi. A horrific massacre of this iconic character if ever there was one.
