10 Most Embarrassing Supervillain Film Costumes

2. Galactus (Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer)

The Fantastic Four have never had an easy go of it in films. The very first production, directed by the legendary Roger Corman, had a very small budget and was basically made for the sole reason of holding onto the rights. Fox€™s version had a higher budget, but was not much better, although it did prove successful enough to warrant a sequel. That sequel, Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer, is the best version of the FF we€™ve seen so far in live-action (and if Josh Trank€™s reboot proves to be as bad as fans are predicting, it may remain the best version for a while).

Although there were a lot of things the movie did decently well enough, perhaps the biggest misstep was the portrayal of the world-devouring Galactus. The filmmakers apparently felt that depicting Galactus as he is in the comics as a giant in purple armor would be too ridiculous. Instead they took a clue from Warren Ellis€™ Ultimate Extinction that reimagined Galactus as a swarm of sentient ships and made Galactus a giant cloud that appeared in the shape of the world-devourer€™s signature helmet.

A giant in purple armor may sound ridiculous, but replacing that with a massive cloud was just a stupid decision. And as we saw from Guardians of the Galaxy€™s depiction of the Celestials, giants in armor don€™t look ridiculous at all in a live-action movie. In fact, they look freaking epic! Far more than some cloud.
