10 Most Emotionally Devastating Movie Moments Of 2015

3. Paul Walker's Farewell - Furious 7

Anyone who has followed the Fast and Furious series this long is in it for more than the nifty action scenes (though it's obviously a major part of the drawing power), they're watching because the characters are likable and interesting. Yes, that might sound like an oxymoron to some who've written off the franchise as nothing but a collection of explosions and tits, but it's true. After many sequels, it's hard to say goodbye to a character who's been a charming constant (with the exception of Tokyo Drift, but whatever), especially when that character also died in real life. Paul Walker passed, at the tragically young age of 40, during the filming of the seventh installment. This required a fair amount of computer razzmatazz to complete the movie, with the director also bringing in Walker's brothers to use as stand-ins for some scenes. It's uncommon for an action movie like Fast and Furious to pay such an transparent tribute to a departed cast member during the film, but James Wan felt it was right to do so, and his touching montage of Walker throughout the series was simple and beautiful. The song in the background, "See You Again," is what really drives the whole thing into tearjerking territory, with these apt lyrics:
"So let the light guide your way, hold every memory as you goAnd every road you take, will always lead you home"
Then, in the final scene of the movie, a CGI-assisted Paul Walker races with Vin Diesel. They smile at each other before Walker exits the freeway on a long and winding road toward the sky, with Diesel driving onward. The scene fades to white. And the whole... damn... audience... is... wrecked.
