10 Most Evil Star Wars Characters Who Aren't Sith

These villains don't need the Force.

The Star Wars universe has never been in short supply of dastardly villains. Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Count Dooku, Supreme Leader Snoke, and Darth Maul are among the the most dangerous beings the Jedi have ever faced. Such evildoers have no qualms with slaughtering civilians with lightsabers, decimating civilisations with their vessels, or obliterating worlds with their battle stations.

But each of these scoundrels share another trait - they are all Force-wielders. Because of the Force's power, it's no surprise that many of the most evil entities in the galaxy are Sith.

However, there are plenty of bounty hunters, assassins, and dictators who are infamous for their crimes despite bearing no Force powers. Jabba the Hutt, Moff Tarkin, and General Hux can't control things with their mind or shoot lightning from their fingertips and yet, their names strike fear into the hearts of billions. The fact that they wield such power without relying on the Force just goes to show how truly malevolent these characters are.

Which brings us to the million-credit question - Who is the evilest non-Sith in Star Wars?

10. Nute Gunray

Mandalorian Season 2 Moff Gideon
Lucasfilm

If you ask anyone who was responsible for placing the Sith into power, many would claim it was The Emperor and Darth Vader.

But it's easy to forget how the Viceroy of the Trade Federation, Nute Gunray, got the ball rolling. Without his aid, money, droids, ships, or weapons, The Empire would've never come to fruition.

Now, it's obvious the Viceroy was unaware of Darth Sidious' true intentions when he allied with him. If he knew his benefactor was willing to commit genocide on a galactic scale, it's likely Nute wouldn't have agreed to the terms.

But that doesn't change the fact the self-serving Neimodian was willing to let the citizens of Naboo die, purely to ensure his own financial stability. After Queen Amidala put a stop to his schemes, Nute began harbouring an obsessive grudge against her, repeatedly attempting to have her assassinated. When those plans failed, he literally threw his resources at Count Dooku, hoping he would destroy her, once again being oblivious of the Sith's master plan.

Nute Gunray may have been manipulated to help Darth Sidious but it doesn't change the fact he's a monster.
